A study on Knowledge and Attitude about Sexuality and Education Need of Students, Parents and Teachers

Abstract
To obtain information about knowledge and attitude toward sexuality and need of sex education, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 420 students who were attended in primary and middle schools, 320 mothers and 200 teachers in urban and rural areas.
The rate of correct answer about knowledge on meaning and time of menstration of primary school students was 24.0% in the most and second was meaning and time of menstration(18.0%). The meaning score of the knowledge level about human sexuality of the students was 1.60 on VD, 1.53 on reproductive physiology and 1.21 on contraceptives.
There were significant differences between level of knowledge on sexuality and reproductive physiology and general characteristicsage, sex and mother¡¯s job on VD and all of items and on contraceptives and age, sex and educational level of fathers(P<0.05, P<0.01).
The mean score of affirmative attitude toward sexuality of students was 3.089 and mean score of mothers and teachers was 3.495 and there were significant difference between mean scores of affirmative attitude of students and mothers and teachers on sexual ethnics, loving affair, artificial abortion and sex education(p<0.05, P<0.01).
Most of the students(80.0% of primary school and 95.3% of high school), 76.6% of mothers and 91.5% of teachers wanted regular sex edcuation and thought it better than the time they wanted to get sex education in 5th or 6th grade of primary school.
